Dad finally got to move down to a regular room this evening. It's a good first step toward freedom! :) He's doing great and has the thumbs up now to eat/drink anything he wants (except tough/chewy things like steak).
Dad's biggest wish right now is that he could wake up in the morning with his vision completely restored. An eye doctor is going to check him out tomorrow or Tuesday, but it just may be his eyes need more time to readjust. He is really frustrated by it, though we are encouraged that he can see at all (seems like a good sign). Please pray that his eyesight will return to normal. It would go a long way toward Dad feeling better and help him to do simple things like picking up/putting down objects.
While he was in good spirits today (he got a shower "for the first time in 25 years!" as he put it), he did get a little discouraged when he thought through all the stuff he'll have to work on. "So much...so much..." But you know Dad always says there are no problems, only challenges. And he is up for the challenge.

Dear Leo, Teddie, Rachel, Becky, and family,
As I leave Houston for Trinity Evangelical Divinity School today in Chicago/Deerfield, I will be praying for you, Leo. I am interviewing graduating seniors for pastoral positions in our IWD District. One of the questions I will ask them is, "Are you up for the challenge we face in our district?" I know that is part of why God has kept you around for another season of service. He knows you are a man of God up for the challenge. I love you, Leo. I love all of you and I'm claiming your total healing.
Pastor Rich Carlson, Supt. IWD
I just found the blog and am so glad to be able to read about your progress, Leo. I am so proud of you...your tenacity and courage are inspiring to me. And I miss your hugs! I am praying for you. Love, Sherri
