Treading water

Nothing much new today. While Dad still has the ileus, they started him back on his "oral" medications (they stopped them on Saturday because nothing was getting through his digestive system). They want to see if he can tolerate those and then they'll slowly follow up with flushing some water through his feeding tube. Hopefully all of this will get things moving through.

He is still doing therapy (though because he's feeling weak and tired they are not doing too much) and seems to be doing well in every other way. He was able to tell Mom he loved her today, which is the first time in a few days his speech has been intelligible. But that was about all he could do. (I told her he was saving all his energy up for that. :))

It's hard to be patient during the waiting times, but yesterday his nurse reminded me that he's doing so much better than many people would in his situation. Times like this I try to remember how strong Dad is being and borrow a little of that strength for myself.

What a saga you all have been through and are still going through! It has taxed you all to the limit. We are lifting up your arms in prayer. We love you so so much. Thanks for keeping us informed. Leo, get all well, is our prayer.
