No news really is good news

Nothing really new today, because Dad is still his fabulous, hard-working, milkshake-drinking self! :)

The other day he told me he knew he needed to eat, but he was feeling "disordered" inside (nothing working quite right). Even yesterday he ate a quarter of a tuna sandwich and half a small milkshake, but he still didn't have much of an appetite. He told me he was only doing it so "they" (doctor and nurses) would see him trying to get better. Today he actually said he was hungry for lunch, though. As he put it, "I'm ready for chow!" Slow and steady. That's how it all seems to be working.

Lots of people have stopped by to visit or have called today. Dad really appreciates it. I can tell, though, that it's challenging for him both verbally and visually: hard to talk with other conversations going on, hard to focus his eyes with so many people milling around. For anyone who is able to visit (and please do!), just remember that he's still a little slow in speaking and getting out what he wants to say.

We've also been reading him some cards/e-mails/messages. Thank you again for all your prayers and good wishes. We see evidence of all those prayers being answered as Dad gets better and better.

What a beautiful day this has been for me. I actually talked with my
best friend (for over 50 years) today. Leo, it was so grand to hear your wonderful voice. Praise
the Lord for being our "Boss" in
all things. God is good all the
time, and all the time God is good.
My entire family is praying for all
of you; that you will regain your
old self completely. Faith in our Lord and Savior is the great restorer. Love you guys, Russ

Dear Leo, Teddie, Rachel, Becky and family,

Whatever God does, He does well. He has been healing you, Leo, and God is doing "exceeding abundant, above all we could ask or think." So glad, Leo, that you can have visitors and that you are having the joy of being able to stand and walk and listen and talk and eat things you like again. The words of Psalm 21:2 come to my mind as I have seen you in battle to win and get well. "You,(Lord)have given him (Leo) his heart's desire. And have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah (Think of that!)"

Loving and praying for you all,

Pastor Rich Carlson, Supt. IWD
