One small step...

The nurse today said she heard faint sounds of movement in Dad's digestive system, but that's about all that's new on the ileus front. Dad looks so good today. He's still trying hard to talk and is so much less agitated.

The big news today is that Dad took a step (assisted, but still...!) with the PT today! He was able to move toward a chair where he sat up for over an hour. Reuben, the PT, is really wonderful and has formed a good working relationship with Dad. After yesterday's session, Dad reached out a hand to shake his and I could see he was visibly touched. He's really amazed by what a hard worker Dad is, and how far he's come. The nurse told me that today that Reuben said, "I don't believe in miracles, but this is as close as I've ever seen to one." She agreed with his assessment (and got all misty as she told me how great Dad's been to work with). I told her, "Well, we believe in miracles and we know Dad is one."
